What do you like best about your job?
The two things I like most about my job are the diversity provided by our breadth of specialist services and the passion for hospitality within our team, suppliers and the clients we represent.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
My superpower would be flying to avoid the traffic on the M62!
What does your role entail?
There are two parts to my role. Firstly I identify cost savings for our clients without compromising quality. Then I’m responsible for the ongoing management of that cost saving, to protect our clients’ profit.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy playing guitar, singing, and painting portraits. As an exchef I now love cooking at home without the pressure of service!
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Superhuman vision so I could see through cushions and instantly find the TV remote.
What does your role entail?
I am responsible for One Cost in the South East. Along with the One Cost team I work closely with our suppliers to make sure our customers are achieving their set objectives within the supply chain. This can be anything from hitting a higher GP to improving a range of products or sourcing something special. Every day is different and I love my job!
Michael Murcott

From the start of the original concept and formally from 2004.
What do you like best about your job?
Making a real and positive difference for the team, customers, and contacts.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Remove famine and hunger, create freedom from misery.
What does your role entail?
HR services and fire safety management, supporting the team and providing support services to our customers, e.g. helping organisations prevent fire and importantly, keep within the legislation.
Richard Murcott

2004 but the thinking long before that
What do you like best about your job?
Working with great people – our team, our customers, and our suppliers
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Remembering names and locations – or is that an age thing!!
What does your role entail?
Coordination and organisation, planning and implementation
Paul Corner
When did you join One Cost?
From incorporation in 2004, although I had been working on the concept of One Cost for a couple of years.
What do you like best about your job?
The variety of challenges, the people and the fact that we can make a real differene helping the businesses we work with.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’d like to be able to fly. It would be a quick way of getting to the golf course!
What does your role entail?
As one of the Directors, I’m constantly working on concepts and ideas for the future, helping shape new processes, services and adding value to our offering to help drive One Cost forward. I also oversee the finances for One Cost.
Stuart Ellis

What are your hobbies?
Over the past couple of years, I have been going to the gym more regularly to try to keep up with some of my colleagues and combat my interests in food and beer.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Time travel. I would love to be able to visit key times in history to see what happened and maybe get to meet some of the famous people who shaped the world.
What does your role entail?
As an Existing Account Manager, I am responsible for all trading One Cost clients. I work with all members of the team to assist in the management of their accounts as well as having specific clients that I work with directly. My daily role covers any aspect of our services from working with chefs to managing food costs, through developing our data processing capabilities and negotiating prices with suppliers.
David Gannon
When did you join One Cost?
I’ve been associated with One Cost since its inception, and formally since February 2009.
What do you like best about your job?
I enjoy working within a framework but also love having the freedom to express myself in my daytoday responsibilities.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’d prefer not to have one, so I guess I’m lucky!
What does your role entail?
I’m responsible for data management. I take raw data and convert it into meaningful information for the One Cost team so we can actively offer guidance and support to our suppliers and clients.
Andrew Thompson
When did you join One Cost?
I joined One Cost as a temporary apprentice. After completing that, I became a fulltime member of staff in December 2010.
What are your hobbies?
I have been involved with pipe bands since I was six and now give my spare time to the Royal Air Force Air Cadets as a Civilian instructor. I’m also into Clay Pigeon Shooting and recently qualified as a CPSA Safety Officer.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’d like to be able to stop time. I’d walk around and live in the moment I’ve paused. I’d never be late again, never be without the time to do something I want to do, never be exhausted from lack of sleep, just have the power stop time and own the world.
What does your role entail?
Anything and everything! As part of the Data Team, I have a supporting role to the rest of the company. When a report or analysis is needed the request comes into the Data Team to create it.
Julie Gibson

What do you like best about your job?
I like working with a friendly team of people who are all passionate about One Cost. The Directors, Paul and Richard, are the most wonderful people to work for.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
My superpower would be to freeze time.
What does your role entail?
My role is to analyse invoices and complete cost comparisons for clients. I also manage Accounts Payable and Sales Support for the Directors.

What do you like best about your job?
I love the variety. No two days are the same! I work with lovely people who are passionate and enthusiastic about One Cost and as a result, we’re a company that’s constantly growing and evolving.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’m a people person who loves to chat and some may say a little bit nosey (I like to say interested in people!). So I would love super hearing powers, nothing would get past me then! It would also keep me one step ahead of the kids at home.
What does your role entail?
I provide sales support to the North West Sales Manager. I ensure accounts are set up correctly so that clients can transfer to One Cost as smoothly as possible. Once clients have traded with One Cost, I ensure the correct contracted price is paid by our clients, requesting any adjustments if needed. I am also responsible for client communications like our monthly round up.
Donna Hobson

What do you like best about your job?
We are a very closeknit team that works really well together. We always have a good laugh but keep the client’s requirements at the heart of everything we do.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I would like to be able to teleport myself. I’d be able to visit a different country every weekend but be back in time for work on Monday morning!
What does your role entail?
My role is to help the field based account managers look after our existing clients. I ensure they purchase the most cost effective products and pay the correct prices with their nominated suppliers. Most importantly, I make sure our clients are happy with the service they are receiving.
Brenda Calland

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Omnilinguism (the ability to understand any form of language). I would travel the world and never have to worry about the language barrier!
Hobbies
A bit late in life but I have discovered a love of keeping fit and running. I have recently completed my second half marathon and have entered numerous 5km and 10km events. This allows me to indulge my other passion, which is food!
Current role
I’ve been with One Cost since 2004. I’ve helped put processes and procedures in place from the beginning and I now take care of the activities that hold the office together. I manage tasks such as invoicing, holidays and updating our website. Along with a myriad of other responsibilities, I also work on developing and maintaining our database as well as supporting both directors with their workload.

What do you like best about your job?
I am lucky to work with a great bunch of people in a dynamic company that’s going from strength to strength. I love the variety of my role, there is never a dull moment!
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Spidysense to compliment my super speed, and swinging from building to building would be so cool!
Current role
As part of a strong and passionate team, my role involves identifying initial cost savings for our clients and producing proposal documents. Working closely with Mark Collins in London and Bill Clifford in Cumbria, we put our clients at the heart of everything we do, ensuring they receive the best service and price from our nominated supply chain.
